Possible Errors During Checkout
Errors can occur during checkout. Below is a list of the most common errors.
- Logged on network user does not have Read/Write/Delete permission to the checkout directory.
Review the security settings of the checkout directory. Verify that you can copy and overwrite a document into this directory.
- The document is open and TMS cannot overwrite an open document.
Verify that the document is closed before checking out.
- Checkout directory does not exist (TMS does not have rights to create this directory).
Verify that the checkout directory exists on the specific drive in the User table.
- The document is not in the revision directory so it cannot be checked out. A possible error occurred when placing the document in review.
Open the document using the Preview icon on the review activity to verify that the document exists. If an error is returned, remove the document from review and reissue it.
- Application Options are set to use Document ID instead of GUID number when checking out a document. The document could have a Microsoft illegal character in the Document ID.
Take the document out of review and remove the illegal character in the Document ID number.
The following is a list of errors that could cause the checkout to fail:
- Unable to overwrite existing field of file permission
- Unable to overwrite existing file because it is currently open
- Download directory does not exist – check the document edit path for users
- Document is not in the revision directory – check the document revision status
- Check out is using the Document ID (not GUID) and the Document ID contains an illegal character for a Microsoft file name
